What’s Oppo up to this weekend?
I’m so over this week. It’s been a shit show at work, and working late means I haven’t gotten much done at home besides drinking a beer or two and going to bed. Although the other night Mrs. Snuze and I went over to Arlington for a fat burger at Big Buns. If you’re in the NoVa area I recommend it.
Tonight I’m planning to get a haircut, and maybe run over to the surplus store on the off chance that they have a surplus or reproduction M1 sling. I’m shooting my first US Service Rifle match tomorrow morning with my 1903 Springfield and although not strictly necessary, a sling is a huge help. If I can’t find one I’m just going to hope someone has an extra they can loan me. Although to be fair I’m expecting to do terribly anyways. But I’m still pumped!
Anyone else got anything exciting going on?

Exciting stuff! I’m kinda bummed, I turned down tickets to the race this weekend because I was supposed to be going up to Maine for work and they needed me to leave early Sunday. Well, I got taken off the trip so now my weekend is free, but it’s too late to get tickets.

I’ve gotten nothing done all week, but long work hours may mean that continues tomorrow... If I actually get rolling, I may get my motor mount brackets (which have been ready to weld up for a week or... two?) welded up, and that means I can make the transmission mount. Which means I can finish the crossmember in my floor and the tunnel cover. Which means I can semi-mount my seats and finish a lot more of the floorboards, and so on. When the floorboards are 100%, I can move on to the rotten A-pillars, and then the roof.

Vacation? What’s that? Haha, last time I had one of those was my honeymoon, almost 2 years ago. That should be good, though. Where are you going?

Sweet! Hope you make some progress.

I actually put my salvaged-from-an-Envoy seat in place yesterday to see what it would be like. feelsgoodman.jpg

I saw your Jag post earlier this morning and thought it sounded like a cool project. Do you know, did Jag use GM transmissions back then? I’m pretty sure they were in the 80’s-90’s.

Trying to avoid the rain and the World Police and Fire Games. Fairfax county is going to be an even worse place over the next two weeks

Setting up DSL at my MIL’s house after work. And going to the shore tomorrow (well, for a bit anyway). Otherwise, nothing going on my way.

The swap happened in 1978. This one (A 1975) would have a Borg Warner three-speed

Taking the wife and kids down south to a cabin in the woods around Silver City for a week or so to escape the heat, than a water park near El Paso and shopping in El Paso and “old” Mesilla. Not super big plans but we are saving up to take vacation up east next year so the wife can see her family (she is from Philadelphia)

Wow, how did I not know about that? That sounds awesome. Though I live in Fairfax county so... ugh. Not looking forward to the traffic.
I just looked at the website... its very hard to navigate, but it sounds awesome. Theres a lot of events going on. Are you competing?

I’m very happy, my FIL is an IT professional, and also a handy-man type, so I rarely ever get enlisted to do stuff for the in-laws, though I do help him out sometimes.
Sounds like a relaxing weekend. My folks used to have a place over on Maryland’s eastern shore. I miss going over there, it was always so pretty, and very relaxing.

No I meant I was going to try and avoid the games as well as the rain. I live in Reston and supposedly Reston Town Center is the “olympic village” so my life is gonna suck for the next 2 weeks.

Ok, I wasn’t sure when that took place. I was thinking if it had the GM, that would be a bonus because they haven’t changed things all that much, and it would give you tons of options to go to a 4 or 6 speed auto. Though I imagine they make adapters for just about everything now, so it probably still wouldn’t be too hard. But you could put a decent rear gear in it and with the extra ratios, still get brisk acceleration and comfortable highway cruising.

Sorry, I misread that after I posted. I almost went back for a ninja edit.
I’m up in McLean, maybe they won’t venture up here.

Maybe meeting 505 for a drink. Going to the dump. Fixing mower. Using mower. Grinding rust. Maybe birthday party. Maybe cheering on wife and daughter in a 5k.

That’s cool, sounds like a pretty busy weekend. You should definitely consider going to cheer on your wife and daughter, if you can make it. My mom started running a couple years ago and my dad I think has only ever gone to one race to see her. It made her really happy.
I was supposed to come up to Maine on Sunday for a work trip to Bath, but I got pulled off the trip at the last minute. They may send me up there later this summer, though.

My wife and kids are out of town, so I’m finally able to get work done on the M3!

I’m going to take my mountain bike out for a quick romp through the woods. i got a bottle of wine for me and Mrs OpposaurusWRX for tonight. I have a meeting at 9am an hour away so forget sleeping in and hope for no hangover. I have a meeting at 10am. Then I have to go finish the bathroom ceiling. I have a kids party to go to sunday.

Praying that I did everything properly to fix my car. Sealer takes 24 hours to cure around the valve cover so it's an anxious waiting game. Buying a mountain bike. It's been too long of not riding fast! Even if it is 100 degrees out

I’m headed out to CTMP for the marshalling school so I can be a track marshal.

Awesome! Best of luck. I always have a lot of admiration for the people that volunteer their time to work as marshals, course workers, tech inspectors, etc.

Sounds like a good plan. I’m taking Mrs. Snuze out tomorrow night to her favorite little Mediterranean restaurant because she’s leaving Sunday for a week.
![]() 06/26/2015 at 14:24 |

I hope you did it right. Valve covers/gaskets are a pain in the ass! And the mountain bike sounds like fun. I never really got into that though, it’s a shame because there are probably some good trails around me, but I’m not getting to the age where I try to avoid things that hurt. Mountain biking seems like one of those.

I have to continue fixing my truck. The big things are now starting to be wrapped up, but I’ve got oil, coolant, and possibly transmission fluid changes scheduled for it.

It is supposed to rain really hard so it is a maybe that the race will happen. Same for the birthday party.

This is the new Duramax, right?
My dad has an 06 GMC 3500 dually and man, that thing is a haus of a truck.

It’s supposed to pour here too. Not looking forward to laying out in the mud and shooting guns.

It’s really fun, and all sorts of different levels of riding. Proper full suspension bikes are damn expensive though, about as much as my car.

Yes. At least I now can now how fast I’m driving, with the new instrument cluster.
I need to go play around with the multimeter to determine what the heck is going on with the blower motor and the high speed bypass relay.
Also needs new speakers and radio.
I think I need to get it in good working order, and the Audi suspension set first before screwing with buying speakers and stuff. I have some old amplifiers that I used to have in the Infiniti, but I don’t know right now if they work. If they do, then all I’d need is an amp install kit. However, they are Class AB, so they are large suckas.

I need to do some volunteering anyways, so this should be a good fit. It’ll be pretty interesting.

Yeah, kinda sucks. But i get to go shoot my first match tomorrow, so I’m pretty excited about that, kind of makes up for no Watkins Glenn.
